Mount St. Mary's University


Mount St. Mary's University, otherwise called The Mount, is a private, aesthetic sciences, Catholic college in the Catoctin Mountains close Emmitsburg, Maryland placed inside the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Notwithstanding its undergrad school, the college incorporates five graduate projects, including a theological school. Mr. Simon Newman is the University's leader. 

Starting 2012 the theological school's minister and president was the previous vicar general of the Catholic Diocese of Peoria, Illinois, Monsignor Steven P. Rohlfs; his quick antecedent was Bishop. 

The chancellor of the theological school was the previous Archbishop William Henry Keeler. It is embraced by The Newman Guide to Choosing a Catholic College. 

In 1805, French émigré Father John DuBois (Père Jean Dubois) laid the foundation for a congregation Saint-Mary's-on-the-Hill and purchased area with the expectation of building a school. 

A log lodge possessed the property and a congregation was constructed in 1807. In 1809, Pigeon Hall, a theological school of the French Society of St. Sulpice was exchanged to Emmitsburg and denoted the start of advanced education at Mount St. Mary. 

Questionable corridor was begun in a swampy brush with a finish in 1826. Elizabeth Ann Seton, holy person and originator of the Sisters of Charity, went to the Mount in 1809. She went to Mass there until her passing in 1821. 

The principal contract for a college was gotten in 1830. Then again, until the mid 1900s, Mount Saint Mary's University likewise went about as a life experience school.

 A few leftovers of the all inclusive school, for example, Bradley Hall (one of the most established structures on grounds), still exit.
