American Public University System

The American Public University System (APUS) is a revenue driven, internet learning foundation of advanced education that is made out of the American Military University and the American Public University.

APUS is entirely possessed by American Public Education, Inc., a traded on an open market private-area partnership (NASDAQ: APEI). APUS keeps up corporate and scholastic workplaces in Charles Town, West Virginia and regulatory workplaces in Manassas, Virginia. APUS offers partner, single guy's and graduate degrees.

The college was established in 1991 by Major James P. Etter (USMC, resigned) as the American Military University. Operations started in January 1993 with the enlistment of 18 graduate understudies.

At first, the fundamental objective of the college was to meet the novel instructive needs of military work force requiring courses in specific ranges, for example, counterterrorism and military insight, that were excluded in regular college course offerings. In the early years, direction was carried out through traditional correspondence.

In June 1995 AMU got to be broadly licensed by the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC).

In January of the accompanying year, the school presented its first undergrad programs. In 1998 AMU made the move from correspondence-based figuring out how to web learning.

In 2002 AMU extended to turn into the American Public University System and made American Public University, proposed principally for regular people and open administration programs.

In 2006 APUS was allowed local accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. In 2012 the American Public University System surrendered its DETC accreditation.

In 2013, the college was recorded on the U.S. News & World Report best 160 online Bachelor Degree Programs list. The school was tied with two others for the rank of 34 on that rundown.
